Reader’s Question:

I’m looking for student car insurance here in Colorado that is not heavy on my budget. How can I have lower payment for my  insurance and make sure that I still have the coverage that I need?

There are quite a few things that you can do to have lower payment for your student car insurance in Colorado. Student car insurance does not have to be heavy on your budget if you consider doing the following things:

1. Do well in school and get at least a “B” average so that you will be rewarded a discount being a “good student”. Insurance companies believe that students who are responsible in their studies can also be responsible in other things that they do.

2. Remember that if you use your car more often, there is a higher chance that you can get into an accident. Consider taking public transportation from time to time and this would reduce your annual mileage, thus reducing the cost as well of your car insurance.

3. If you don’t have your car registered under your name and have it under your parents’ name and still live with them, it’s a sure way of reducing payments  if you are a named driver on their car insurance policy.

4. Make sure that you visit more than one Website that provides free student car insurance quotes. Better yet, you can simply go to comparison quotes Websites and ask for different quotes from car insurance companies. By doing this, you would be able to have a lot of quotes for you to compare. You will get lower rate quotes and still have the coverage that you need.

5. Raise your deductible amount as high as you feel comfortable with.  You only pay that amount when and if you have a claim and your carrier pays for it.
